A safer speed limit for the A38

Thank you for your interest in our public meeting to keep the A38 safe.

6.25 million vehicles use this stretch of road each year and it is a hot spot for accidents. During a recent police speed check, a third of all vehicles at certain times exceeded the speed limit and the top speed recorded was 103mph.

Keeping the 40mph speed limit will undoubtedly make our communities safer. Reducing it to 30mph would have an even bigger impact. The difference between travelling at 30mph and travelling at 50mph between Weare and Rooksbridge is less than a minute.

We held a public meeting on 26th January 2023 at Biddisham Parish Hall. It was very well attended and the wishes of local residents was very clear.

Updates about the meeting will appear in due course here: https://www.cheddarvalleymatters.org.uk/news
